I am reaching out to our MdHIMA members to generate interest in our upcoming Health Career and Jobs Fair sponsored by Prince Georges County Executive Rushern Baker III.
As you know County Executive Rushern Baker will be one of the Democratic candidates running for the gubernatorial race in the 2018 election year in Maryland.
Executive Baker has a vested interest in health care careers and is committed to employment opportunities in PG County as well as throughout the State of Maryland.
The event will be held at the Prince Georges County Community College exact date to be determined but aiming for the Spring of 2018.
Our CSA MdHIMA will be a featured organization on this day and we will be receiving recognition from the County Executive.
The team from Alexander & Clever law offices who provide MdHIMA representation at our Maryland General Assembly and headed by their Community Outreach Worker Davion Percy have asked to get a preliminary “ head count” of health care business who would be willing to participate in this event.
MdHIMA is looking for a large number of employers to conduct resume reviews and talk to participants about employment opportunities in their organizations.
We are also asking if any other HIT college/ certification programs would like to participate in the event and be willing to set up a booth to market your program of study.
There will not be any charge for setting up your booths and you will be supporting our HIM profession and our certificate programs as well as our 2 year and 4 year college graduates or those currently enrolled in a program with this valuable networking opportunity.
Your response is appreciated and I’d like to hear back from each of you by the end of December.
I know this is short notice and I know you will need to reach out to your HR departments during the busy holiday season but I need to give some favorable responses to the outreach committee from Rushern Bakers offices for them to move forward with our MdHIMA Health Career and Jobs Fair.
MdHIMA Advocacy Committee and board members want this to be a day filled with HIM networking, education and mentoring opportunities to all individuals who want to pursue a career in health care administration/ operations with certification in HIM competencies to promote an educated workforce in our Maryland Healthcare Facilities.
